Anti Dumping Duty

Anti-Dumping Duty (ADD) is a duty charged on imported goods in addition to normal customs duty.

The World Trade Organisation allows governments, including the European Commission (EC) acting on behalf of the EU Member States, to act against the dumping of specific goods by imposing an ADD where there is genuine economic injury to the competing domestic industry. In order to apply ADD the Commission must be able to show that dumping is taking place, calculate the extent of dumping (how much lower the export price is compared to the exporter’s home market price) and show that the dumping is causing injury, or threatening to do so.

Products currently subject to ADD in the EU vary considerably and include fasteners from China and other Far East countries, bed linen from Pakistan and steel products from Ukraine and Croatia.
